Knight Rider is a 1989 video game for the Famicom that is very loosely based on the television show of the same name. Terrorists are running rampant all over the United States of America and only a man and his robotic car can stop them from taking over. However, the game is very difficult to play and there is also a DRIVE mode that allows players to go on a Sunday drive through the stages (similar to Pole Position with a hint of Streets of SimCity).
Despite the non-violent premise of the television show, the video game interpretation was deemed to be very violent for its era with its almost exclusive use of firearms to eradicate terrorists. In addition to this, the emphasis on both speed and violence to achieve goals turned off older fans of the series.
Ways to lose a life
- If the player runs out of gasoline, he or she loses a life.
- If the player's car is destroyed, he or she loses a life.
- If time runs out, the player loses a life.
